She was a lifelong Christian and loved reading the Bible and attending her churches; the Little Chapel of Eureka Springs where she taught the Junior Sunday School Class many years, and Berryville First Assembly of God.
After retiring from 25 years of employment at Ocoma and Tyson Foods, she enjoyed extensive global travels with her niece, Euleta Usrey of Calif.
Gustava was very skilled in creating crafts, sewing, painting and decorating cakes. She especially loved children and doted on her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Alexander Phillips and Arey Simpson Sweeten Phillips; three sisters, Murtha Edith Phillips, Pearl Hammons and Bonnie Usrey; six brothers, Denver, Billie, Roy, Claud, Homer and Grover Phillips.
Gustava is survived by one sister-in-law, Bonnie Phillips of Berryville, many nieces and nephews, and friends too numerous to count.
A Celebration of Life was set for Friday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. at Gobbler Church with Brother Ray Shelton officiating, and burial in Gobbler Cemetery by Smith Family Funeral Home of Green Forest.
Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 25 at Smith Family Funeral Home.
