Sadie Simpson

SADIE SIMPSON, 89, of Green Forest, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at the Carroll County Nursing and Rehab Center.

Sadie was born April 17, 1917, to the late George Scarborough and Mary Fletcher Scarborough of the Zion Hill Community. She was united in marriage to Jerry J. Simpson in 1934. They settled in Green Forest, where they spent the rest of their married life until Jerry died in 2000. To this union, one daughter and two sons were born.

Sadie was employed for several years at Franz in Berryville, now known as Tyson Foods. Later she worked at Green Forest School as a cook and after her retirement, she went to work at the Senior Center in Berryville. She loved sewing, cooking and growing flowers. She was especially devoted to her family and loved babysitting her grandchildren.

Sadie was a member of Green Forest First Assembly of God church for several years. In her younger years she enjoyed teaching Sunday school.

She is survived by one daughter, Christine Marshall of Berryville; two sons, Frank Simpson of Independence, Mo. and Carlus Simpson of Green Forest; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers John, Elmer, Grim, Edmond (Ed), and Edward (Punkie) Scarborough; sisters Isbelle Clayborn, Alice Guess, Louise Jones, Janie Taylor Griffith and Estelle Sims Renfro; one grandson, Danny Harris; and one granddaughter, Cindy Simpson.

Celebration of life services were held Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Green Forest Assembly of God with Pastor Mark Bryant officiating. Interment followed at Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
