Blanch (Burks) Phillips Jones

BLANCH (BURKS) PHILLIPS JONES, a resident of Green Forest, formerly of Rogers, was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Berryville, a daughter of Wesley and Lela (Hawkins) Burks. She died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in Berryville at the age of 87.

Blanch was a homemaker. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

She is survived by two sons, Earl Dean Phillips of Berryville, and Dwight L. Phillips of Gentry; five daughters, Maxine Whiteley, Mary Ellen Kisner, and Donna Faye Janeway, all of Berryville, Sharon Sue Anderson of Green Forest, and June Sayre of Lowell; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild: several other relatives and a host of friends.

On Dec. 14, 1935, she married Vernon Phillips, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 17, 1962, she was united in marriage with Preston Jones, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Melvin Phillips.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Interment was in the Gobbler Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
