DON ROBERT SHUSTA, 66, of Beaver, died on Christmas night at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born on Feb. 10, 1940, in Wahoo, Neb., to Robert Shusta and Virginia Walter Shusta.

He was raised and educated in San Gabriel Valley, Calif. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1960. He was a firefighter for Monterey Park, Calif. and later at Huntington Beach, Calif. He retired in 1994. He and his wife traveled throughout the country and moved to Beaver in 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Shusta of Beaver; his parents, Robert and Virginia Shusta of Willows, Calif.; one son, David Shusta and wife Carrie of Bellingham, Wash.; one daughter, Debbie Falke and husband Mark of Kansas City, Mo.; one step-son, Matt Kratofil of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two step-daughters, Dawn Kratofil of Los Angeles, Calif., and Amber Kratofil of Santa Maria, Calif.; one brother, Gerald Shusta and wife Cynthia of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church of Eureka Springs, 763 Passion Play Road, at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12. Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Benevolent Fund, Eureka Springs, or to the Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.
