He was born on Dec. 17, 1928, in Lonoke, Ark., a son of the late Carroll and Kathaline Hand Williams. On Oct. 9, 1948, he married Geneva Vey Thompson of Alpena.
Mr. Williams honorably served in the Navy during WW II as a seaman first class. John worked in the construction business most of his life, where he developed many life-long friends. Upon retirement, Mr. Williams found great enjoyment in spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Williams was predeceased by his father, mother and a brother.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Geneva Thompson Williams; two daughters, Laquita Ramos of Lubbock, Texas, and Glenda Humbard of Green Forest; two sons, Bill Williams of Sedalia, Mo., and Mark Williams of Waco, Texas; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one uncle, a nephew and three grand-nephews.
A memorial gathering was held at the VFW Hall in Berryville on Dec. 26. Memorial graveside services were held Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Pickens Cemetery in Green Forest.
Cremation service was by Smith Family Funeral Home of Green Forest.
