HILUARD (DAVE) MATTOX, of Shell Knob, Mo., was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Lavina, Tenn., a son of Dave and Irene (Walker) Mattox. He died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 75.

Dave was a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Golden, Mo., and the Men's Monday Night Bowling League in Berryville.

On Feb. 14, 1998, he was united in marriage with Betty Jane (Garner) Mattox, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Colleen Mattox of Berryville; daughter, Sharon Katopodis of Howell, Mich.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Kenneth Leaf of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Roxanne and Robert Sappenfield of Bentonville; two brothers, Franklin Mattox of Inverness, Fla., and David Mattox of Lumberton, Texas; one sister, Dora Patrick of Berryville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

On Dec. 25, 1948, he was united in marriage with Frances Darlene (Casey) Mattox, who preceded him in death on May 16, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at the Golden First Baptist Church wil Bro. Bill Dudley and Pastor Woody Fletcher officiating. Graveside committal services were to be held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the Hopewell Cemetery near Medina, Tenn.
