ZILLAH BLANCH (HOLT) SEITZ passed away Dec. 11, 2006, at Berryville. Mrs. Seitz was born Feb. 26, 1908, at Marble, to the Rev. John D. and Lula Belle (Robinson) Holt.

Mrs. Seitz became a Christian at an early age. She was teaching Sunday school by age 15 and continued for 75 years. Her passion for teaching was very evident by her thorough preparation each week. She loved singing and was still in the choir at age 90. Over her life she was a member of Lower Camp Ground, Pleasant Ridge, Grandview Baptist, First Baptist in Berryville and at her death Freeman Heights Baptist Church.

After receiving a teaching certificate from Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA), Mrs. Seitz taught first through eighth grades at Dean, often riding a horse to work. Her interest in education continued with her serving as president of the Parent-Teachers Association at Grandview and Berryville.

For many years she was a member of the Grandview Extension Club and the County Council, serving as an officer.

Mrs. Seitz enjoyed growing things and for 73 consecutive years she had a vegetable garden, sharing her produce with neighbors, Sunday school classes and choir members. Besides vegetable gardening, Mrs. Seitz grew many flowers and gave them freely for bouquets and starter plants.

Mrs. Seitz was preceded in death by her husband, William Bert Seitz; son, Jerry Burr Seitz; and grandson, Charles Scott Schnetzler; her parents; two sisters; and six brothers.

She is survived by three daughters, Jo Etta Schnetzler of Springfield, Mo.; Dr. Berta Seitz of Fayetteville; and Louise Runyan and husband Roy of Swifton, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Jane Seitz Bennett of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren, Dr. Kent Schnetzler, Stephanie Mills, Dr. Tiffany Runyan Garrison, Amy Seitz, Brooke Craine, Bethany Capps and Nathan Seitz; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Hayden and Arissa Mills and Avery Runyan Garrison; and many friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Dean Smith and Bro. Billy McCall officiating.
