Susie Jo Lovett

SUSIE JO LOVETT of Berryville, died Nov. 11, 2006, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 64. She was born May 18, 1942, a daughter of Charlie Marion Matney and Ruth (Percival) Matney.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Kenny Lovett, whom she married Sept. 26, 1961. She is also survived by one son, Roger Lovett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Darrell Hopper and Kristy and Rick Evans; six grandchildren, Rickelle Evans, Megan Hopper, Lacy Lovett, Michael Hopper, Kailyssa Evans and MaKenna Evans; one great-granddaughter, Dakota Hopper; and two special children that called her Grandma, Trent Long and Cassiday High; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bert and Betty Wright of Green Forest, Jerry and Linda Matney of Springfield, Mo., and Philip and Glenda Matney of Springdale; one sister in law, Linda Matney of Casper, Wyo.; one brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson of Springdale; one uncle, Hershel Matney of Berryville; two aunts, Helen Baldwin of Berryville, and Virginia Paulk of Anchorage, Alaska; and many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruth Matney; one brother, Lynn Matney; and a sister, Rose Johnson.

Susie worked at the courthouse for many years. She served four years as tax collector and several years as deputy Circuit Clerk under Eileen Harvey, Jackie Bunch, and Ramona Wilson. She enjoyed crafts and painting and especially time spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of Towering Oaks Church and was saved at a very early age.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov.15, 2006, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Montgomery officiating. Interment was in the High Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to the Towering Oaks Church or the Arkansas Children's Hospital.
