W.L. GOMER PYLES, 74, of Gravette, died Thursday, Nov. 16, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County.

He was born Dec. 10, 1931, at Bush, to Henry Pyles and Mabel Vanderpool Pyles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea.

He married Lucy Davidson on Sept. 9, 1951, at Huntsville and had lived in this area since 1968. He was a steel fabrication welder and retired from the Benton County Road Dept. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 3031 in Rogers, enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodwork and tying fish dip nets.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, William McDonald; a brother, Henry Pyles; and a sister, Thelma Dairty.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lucy Pyles of Gravette; three daughters, Wilma McDonald and Richard Kell of Rogers, Thelma Rodgers of Bentonville, and Judy Griggs of Hindsville; one brother, Paul Pyles of Tecumseh, Mo.; one sister, June Jones of Rogers; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Sisco Funeral Home Chapel in Pea Ridge on Saturday, Nov. 18, with Rev. Robert Jones officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hebron Cemetery with full military honors by Rogers VFW Post No. 3031.
