ROBERTA CARLENE TRUAN, 64, of Brownwood, Texas, died on Nov. 9, 2006, following a long battle with cancer.

Carlene was born August 23, 1943, in Eureka Springs, the oldest of seven children. She lived the first half of her life in Arkansas before moving with her husband to Texas. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting the cactus and bluebonnets of the Texas Hill Country. Her paintings were sold through the Buchanon Dam Artist Guild Gallery. She was a long time associate with Wal-Mart.

She is preceded in death by her father Carl Walden; husband Glynn Truan; son Lansing Lee Truan and infant granddaughter Renee Danielle England. She is survived by her mother, Joada Walden of Brownwood; three sons, Steve Mays of Brown‚wood, Terrence Truan and wife Jo of Portland, Ore., and Carl Truan of the home; three daughters, Angela Mays of the home, Joetta Mays of Brownwood, and Sonja Truan of Fredricksburg. She is also survived by three brothers, James Walden of Berryville, Dean Walden and wife Sharon of Renee, Okla., and Phillip Walden and wife Anica of Sciatook, Okla.; three sisters, Patricia Dycus and husband Ricky of Lake Buchanon Dam, Lisa Isham of Wichita, Kan., and Deborah Smith of Granite Shoals; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with Reverend Kelly Crenshaw officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wal-Mart associate Emergency Fund, attention Andrew Flues, Brownwood store manager and to the American Lung Association.
