NORMA JEAN SIMMONS FANCHER, a resident of Berryville, was born May 11, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of Bill and Jess Lee (Golden) Simmons. She died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, in Springdale, at the age of 68.

Mrs. Fancher was a founding member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Kingston. Until her retirement she was the care taker at Queen Anne's Mansion in Eureka Springs.

She is survived by her daughter, Debi and her husband Jerry Bates of Kingston; two grandsons, Justin Bates of Branson, Mo., and Clay Bates of West Hills, Calif.; her companion and loved one, Gary Johnson; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and friends.

Graveside memorial services were to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at the Kingston Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
