Free flu vaccination clinic is Nov. 17

Monday, November 13, 2006

A free, one-day flu vaccination clinic will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Berryville from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services (ADHHS) announced Wednesday.

First Assembly of God is located at 907 S. Main.

Carroll is one of 26 Arkansas counties participating in the mass vaccination clinics.

Following the clinics, the ADHHS will distribute vaccine around the state to its health units to allow those who do not attend the free clinic to receive a flu vaccination at a later date. Cost of those shots will be $15 for anyone not enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid or the Vaccines for Children Program, the ADHHS reported.

The mass vaccination clinics allow the ADHHS to judge its ability to distribute medicine statewide in the event of pandemic influenza or a similar type of emergency, it reports.

The flu season in Arkansas usually runs from mid-December to March, the ADHHS reports.
