Grace Evalene (Carter) Stamps
Grace Evalene (Carter) Stamps, 96, died Oct. 7, 2006, at the Bentonville Manor.
She was born July 17, 1910, in Kingston. She attended school, married and raised her family in Kingston. In 1953, she and her husband followed three of their sons to Chelan, Wash. She worked in the apple packing sheds for a number of years, returning to Arkansas in 1995. She was an active member of the Chelan First Baptist Church and the Rebecca Lodge of Kingston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Harve and Lillie Belle (Maxwell) Carter, her husband, Jesse Preston, her brother, Fred Carter; her daughter, Lillian Gertrude Kay Stamps and one granddaughter, Karen Kay Stamps Newbrey.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Doris Stamps of Chelan, Jesse Jay and Neta Stamps of Berryville, Guy and Rebecca Stamps of Bentonville, and Joe and Mary Stamps of East Wenatchee, Wash.; a brother and his wife, Jesse and Ova Carter of Yakima, Wash.; three sisters-in-law, Maxine Pinkley and Helen Stamps of Berryville, and Ava Mae Stamps of Kingston; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grand‚children; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services, under the direction of Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at the Bentonville First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at a later date at Fraternal Cemetery in Chelan.
Memorials may be made to the Bentonville Manor, the Bentonville First United Methodist Church Kitchen Fund or the Chelan First Baptist Curch.
