BERRYVILLE The Lady Bobcat volleyball team took an early morning practice called by Coach Kristin Smith to heart Tuesday and swept the Farmington Lady Cardinals in varsity and JV games later that day.

Berryville improved to 3-6 overall, 3-4 in 4A-1 play with 25-1, 25-13, and 25-18 scores. The JV won 25-19, 25-11.

The varsity game was a conference game and a big win, Coach Smith said. We came out and played hard, were ready, and played as a team. I was excited, and the girls were too.

In game one, Katie Tennant had 7 good serves and 2 kills, Emily Ray 2 kills, Ashley Edens 2 kills, and Krystal Changus 3 serves for points.

In game two, Tennant had 7 points off serve and 5 sets, Megan Gibbins 9 points off serve, Heather Eaves 2 kills, and Edens 3 kills.

In game three, Tennant had 13 sets, Ray 3 kills, 6 digs and 4 points off serve, Changus 3 serves, and Edens 4 serves and 6 kills.

The last game we were hitting the ball, doing more spiking, Smith said. We played good the first two games, then got into it the last one.

In JV action in game one, Hayley Minney had 7 serves for points, Hailey Russell 10 points off serve, and Jessica Costner 2 kills. In game two, Kristina Wilson had 13 serves for points and Tori Wilson had 5.

We played very well, Smith said. All our serves were over the net.
