Holiday Island Planning Commission issues permit, approves shed
HOLIDAY ISLAND -- In a short meeting Friday, minus Chairman Joe Schuler and Commissioner Kevin Crosson, the Holiday Island Planning Commission (HIPC) issued one permit and one approval.
Ray and Patty Burkhart applied for a permit to build a 1,660-square-foot house at 13 Indians Wells Drive. Ray will build the house himself and do his own electrical and plumbing work. He said he is still searching for an HVAC contractor at a reasonable price.
The Burkharts had their road damage permit from the district with them.
Permit #2127 was approved for 180 days.
Melvin Davis asked approval to place a 160-square-foot shed on his property at 21 LaCosta Drive, to be used as a workshop. He lives on a corner lot and said the shop would be visible from the street, but he is planning to paint, trim and roof it in the same colors as the house. Approval was granted.
In other business, HIPC:
* Heard property owners Bob Snyder and Ted Grindall complain that the construction site at 12 Country Club Drive needs to be cleaned up. Building Inspector Red Perkins will contact the contractor to request this done.
* Gave information to Larry and Mona Gathright, who may be purchasing their rented house at 17 Sunrise Ave. and want to build a carport.
* Heard Commissioner Frank Smith report Schuler had told him attorney Wade Williams will write a letter to a property owner on Summit Drive about trash to be cleaned up.
* Heard property owner Herb Holmberg report he had spoken with the property owner of a house in his unit that had trash and debris left behind and was assured it would be cleaned up.
The commission meets every Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. at its office in the Park Shopping Center at 1 Parkcliff Drive, Suite D. Permits and related requests are considered first, followed by other business.
