James David Mathis

JAMES DAVID MATHIS a resident of Green Forest, was born Nov.11, 1974, in Harrison, a son of David Loy and Wilma (Shurseth) Mathis. He died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, in an automobile accident at the age of 31.

James was a high school graduate. He spent several years working as a general contractor both in St. Louis, Mo. and Lexington Park, Md. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working with his hands.

On Dec. 6, 1993, he was united in marriage with Jennifer (Edgmon) Mathis, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Martiqua Tackitt of Missouri and Rebecca Mathis; one son, Issac Mathis; his mother, Wilma Mathis; two brothers, Charles Shurseth and Richard Mathis; his grandmother, Edith Mathis Clark and husband Charles of Green Forest; two uncles, Bill Mathis and Burl Bunny  Mathis, Jr.; aunt, Cheryl Mathis; many cousins, nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Mathis; his sister, Malinda Mathis and his brother, William Mathis.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Nelson s Green Forest Chapel with Pastor Marvin Emmons officiating. Cremation arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral. com.
