Jerry Austin Wilson

JERRY AUSTIN WILSON, 61, died on Aug. 6, 2006, in Owasso, Okla, after a series of illnesses over several years. He was born Oct. 26, 1944, in Richmond, Calif., to Earl Loyd Wilson and Mamie Caroline Buckmaster (Wilson) Green.

Jerry graduated from Tribbey High School in Tribbey, Okla., in 1962. After graduating, he worked as a short order cook at the Town Talk cafe in Shawnee, Okla. He joined the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era in April of 1966. After completing his tour of duty, he was discharged as a staff sergeant in April of 1970. He remained in California following his discharge, living in the San Francisco area for many years, where he partnered in a marine electronics business. Upon selling the business, Jerry relocated to Eureka Springs, where he owned and operated Kings Highway Inn. He sold the inn in January of 2006 and moved back to Shawnee to be near family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Geneva Ann (Wilson)-Nuckols of Fort Collins, Colo., and Evelyn Louis (Wilson) Coley of Shawnee; and one brother, Mark Lynn Bell of Anadarko, Okla.

He is survived by one brother, Tommy Earl Wilson and his wife Donna of Walnut Shade, Mo., three sisters, Velma Jean (Wilson) Leach and her husband Richard of Owasso, Okla., Linda Kay (Wilson) Gale of Greeley, Colo., Paula Marie (Greer) Vance of Foyil, Okla; step-brother Charles Hoppel and step-sister Sharon Hoppel, both of Englewood,Colo; one brother‚-in-‚‚law, Charles (Chuck) Nuckols of Fort Collins, Colo.; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Resthaven Funeral Chapel in Owasso with Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
