FRANCIS G. (SMITH) WHITELEY, a resident of Green Forest, was born March 11, 1941, a daughter of Conrad Wilson and Viola (Ricketts) Smith. She died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2006, in her home at the age of 65.

Francis was a graduate of Mt. Judea High School and until her retirement, was employed as a United States Department of Agriculture grader for the state of Arkansas.

She is survived by her son Geary and wife Maxine Robinette of Berryville; two daughters, Sheila and her husband Carroll McCreary of Oak Grove, and Karen Curtis of Harrison; her mother Viola Smith of Piercetown; two brothers, Arless and wife Betty Smith of Hasty, James and wife Nancy Smith of Green Forest; three sisters, Loretta and husband Henry Phillips of Harrison, Sue and husband E.G. Campbell of Piercetown and Emma and husband Doyle Reddell of Dover; four grandchildren, Jason and Justin McCreary and Cassidy and Abbie Curtis; two step-grandchildren, Jenny Horn and Chris Alvard; two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Jesse McCreary and two step-great-grandchildren, Dakota Alvard and Gracie Horn; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Conrad Smith.

Funeral services were to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at the Nelson Chapel in Green Forest with Bro. Charles Christian and Bro. Eddie Reed officiating. Interment was to be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Smith Cemetery in Newton County under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
