She is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Freeman, and her brother, Richard Swafford. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Alice Freeman of Los Banos, Calif.; son, Richard Freeman of Hawaii; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Dale Lock of California Hot Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and West Brown of Bakersfield, Calif.; companion, Jack Wallace; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister; one brother; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charlene moved from Arkansas to Seattle in 1946. She then moved to Bakersfield in 1948. She worked as a church secretary from 1958-1971. She retired to live with her husband until his death in 1978.
She moved back to Arkansas in 1984 and owned and operated a retail business with her sister, Morene. She then returned to Bakersfield in 1992. She worked at Gottschalk's for ten years, retiring in 2004.
Visitation for Charlene Faye Freeman was held at Basham Funeral Care in Bakersfield, Calif., on Friday, July 21, 2006. Funeral services were held in the Basham Funeral Care Chapel on July 22, 2006. Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield, Calif.
