L. LAVINIA COOK, a resident of Harrison, was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Stone County, Mo., a daughter of Jesse James and Effie (Rice) Peterson. She died Monday, July 17, 2006, in Harrison at the age of 85.

Mrs. Cook was a member of the Alpena Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by her son, Bob, and wife, Beverly Cook, of Crystal Beach, Texas; two grandsons, Erik Cook of Rossville, Tenn. and Kevin Cook of Alpena; one granddaughter, Amy Rains-Cook of Houston, Texas; four great- grandchildren; four sisters, Esther Hollars of Lampe, Mo., Jewell Ummell of Springfield, Mo., Helen Kay Catt of Richardson, Texas and Ann Davis of Springfield, Mo.; one brother, Bernard Peterson of Blue Eye, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.

On Sept. 12, 1949, she was united in marriage with Kenneth S. Cook, who preceded her in death. Her parents also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel. Interment will follow in the Blue Eye Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
