Southern Gospel Group to sing on July 29 at Berryville Christian

Monday, July 17, 2006

The Stone Quartet, a Southern Gospel group from Crossett, will make a return engagement at the First Christian Church in Berryville on Saturday, July 29 at 6 p.m.

A potluck will follow the concert and everyone attending is encouraged to stay after the concert and fellowship with the group, according to David Bell, music minister.

"The first concert they gave here, a little over a year ago, was a great success," Bell said, "and we feel fortunate to be able to present them again."

Robert Stone is the founder of the group as well as keyboardist. While many gospel groups use prerecorded sound tracks, the Stone Quartet uses live accompaniment exclusively.

"We enjoy how an all live performance comes across to the audience," Stone says. "So we made the choice to use a keyboard when we sing."

The Stone Quartet draws crowds from across many denominational lines, said Pastor Paul Elliott. "We invite gospel music lovers from any church to come by and enjoy an evening of Southern Gospel."

First Christian Church is located at 306 E. Church St, two blocks off the Berryville Square. For more information, call the church office at (870) 423-2588.
