PHYLLIS STEPHENSON, a resident of Golden, Mo., was born June 26, 1928, in De Smet, S.D., a daughter of Elmer and Rose Ann (Spencer) Denevan. She died Friday, July 7, 2006, in her home at the age of 78.

Mrs. Stephenson was a homemaker and of the Lutheran faith.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Marx of Louisville, Ky.; three sons, Phillip J. Stephenson of Berryville, Mark A. Stephenson of Golden and Steven K. Stephenson also of Golden; four sisters, Rose Marie Harrison of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jean Sadler of Soldatna, Alaska, Mary Jane Dodson of Gravette, and Betty Sorenson of Bella Vista; one brother, Don Denevan of Rapid City, S.D.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several other relatives and friends.

On Oct. 5, 1950, she was united in marriage with M.A. Stephenson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lenard and Jim Denevan.
