DONALD JOE CONAWAY, Sr., 65, of Golden, Mo., died Saturday, June 24, 2006, in his home.

He was born Jan. 9, 1941, in Spur, Texas, the son of Thomas James and Mary (Butler) Conaway, who preceded him in death. On March 6, 1958, in Arlington, Texas, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Geer, who survives of the home.

He is also survived by three sons, Donald Joe Conaway, Jr., and his wife, Kim, of Yantis, Texas, Jackie Conaway and his wife, Tammy, of Gardendale, Texas, and James Conaway and his wife, Kimberly, of Cassville, Mo. Donald has two brothers, Lanis Conaway and Larry Conaway and his wife, Connie, of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

During the first years of their marriage, Donald raised his family by farming and was a leader in 4-H. After retiring from farming, he moved to Golden. He has worked at Golden Precision Machine for the last 17 years as a boat motor mechanic. He was a member of Golden Church of God and was actively involved in Royal Rangers.

Funeral services were Wednesday, June 28, 2006, in Golden Church of God, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Darrell Harp and Rev. Jerry Bryant conducted the services. Don Mackie gave the eulogy. Burial was in Roach Cemetery, Eagle Rock, Mo.
