Walter Edwin Coshow
WALTER EDWIN COSHOW, Jr., 86, of Shell Knob, Mo., died Friday, June 23, 2006, in his home.
He was born April 16, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Walter, Sr. and Eleanor V. (Coyne) Coshow. In 1959, in St. Louis, he was united in marriage to Mary Adelee Hart, who preceded him in death on May 3, 1984. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert; and one grandson.
He is survived by one daughter, Lynn Gellerman and her husband, Bill of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Dolores Coshow of St. Louis; four grandchildren and a long-time friend, Patty Pearch.
Walter received his education in St. Louis and was a graduate of St. Louis University High School. He bagan pitching in the American League Professional Baseball Club of America, but didn't pursue a career with the major league, because he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II.
For 40 years, Walter was empoyed in the maintenance department of Monsanto in St. Louis. In 1986, he moved to Shell Knob to make his home. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Eye Crosser Bass Masters Fishing Club of St. Louis.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where funeral services were to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Father David Miller was to conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2006, in Calvary Cathlic Cemetery, St. Louis.
