She was orphaned at the age of three and was lovingly chosen and adopted by Dr. E. Carroll, Jr. and Althea (Brownville) Stone, who raised her, and provided for her from the age of three.
Jeanne obtained her U.S. citizenship on September 3, 1952. She grew up in Wellesley Hill, Mass., where she attended grade school and high school. While in high school she played the violin and was a member of her high school orchestra. She attended college at Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. Before moving to Eureka Springs in 1979, she was a resident of Denver, Colo. She was very talented at rug hooking, macramé, flower gardening and many other things. Jeanne played a major part in the production of the movie "Pass the Ammo," which was filmed in Eureka Springs.
She is survived by two sons, Chris Wright of Holiday Island, and Tim and his wife Gloria Wright of Berryville; one granddaughter, Megan Wright of Berryville; her parents, Dr. Carroll and Althea Stone of Oxford, Miss.; one brother, Terry and his wife Jane Stone of Jackson, Miss.; three sisters, Sue Turner and Mae Stone of Oxford, Miss. and Melanie Stone of Brewster, Mass., and many friends.
There will be a Gathering of Remembrance at Faith Christian Family Church in Eureka Springs from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2006, with Dr. Carroll Stone and Pastor Gary Hayhurst officiating.
