MARGARET S. AMUSSEN, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Washington, D.C., a daughter of Dr. Fred R. and Margaret (Madden) Sanderson. She died Saturday, June 10, 2006, in her home at the age of 83.

Mrs. Amussen was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, where she was a past president of the Women's Diocesean. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lane House.

She is survived by her son, Christopher R. Amussen of Eureka Springs; three daughters, Jennifer M. Amussen of Eureka Springs, Kristen Amussen of Eureka Springs, and Melissa of Aurora, Colo.; one sister Mary Ann Mougey of Aurora, Ohio; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was united in marriage with John R. Amussen, who preceded her in death. On June 11, 1948, she was united in marriage with Christopher R. Amussen, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Tharon McNelis, and one sister and one brother.

Memorial funeral mass was held Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church with Father Rob McChesney S.J. officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Clear Spring School.
