Coaches Association All-Star games set for June 22 on UofA campus

NORTH LITTLE ROCK -- The president of the Arkansas High School Coaches Association, Benny Harris of Bradley, recently announced the head basketball coaches for the 2006 East-West Tyson/Wal-Mart/Arkansas High School Coaches Association Girls and Boys All-Star teams as selected by their fellow coaches.

The head coach for the East boys will be David Hixson of Blytheville and the head coach of the East girls will be Dell Leonard of Mountain Home.

The West boys head coach will be Chris Meseke of Magnolia and the head coach of the West girls will be Shelley Davis of Morrilton.

The 51st All-Star basketball games will be played at Bud Walton Arena on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville on Thursday, June 22, with the girls' game beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys' game immediately following.

The 2006 Arkansas High School Coaches Association Coaches Clinic will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Fayetteville, June 21-23.

West Girls Staff

Shelley Davis, Morrilton; Preston Early, Rogers; Roy Backus, Ashdown; Cecily Butler, Genoa Central; Jackie Kirbo, St. Paul.

West Boys Staff

Chris Meseke, Magnolia; Ronald Moragne, Pine Bluff; Larry Walker, Pea Ridge; Jared Gobel, Greenland; Michael Holland, Scranton.


Selected to play in the game were these area athletes, whose names should be familiar to basketball fans.

Boys- Paul Sebby, Eureka Springs; Ryan Dennis, Farmington; Alex Kelly, Pea Ridge.

Girls- Whitney Burgess, Huntsville; Lauren Dennis, Farmington; Kelly Ruff, Bergman.
