Virginia Frances "Lady" White
VIRGINIA FRANCES "LADY" WHITE, of Blackwell, Okla, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in the Westminster Village in Ponca City, Okla., at the age of 91.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1914, in Berryville to Digby John and Fannie (Clarke) West. She grew up in Berryville, graduating from Berryville High School in 1933. She then furthered her education by attending Phillips University in Enid, Okla., for the next four years, receiving a bachelor's degree.
Following her education, she taught elementary school in Lucien, Okla., for one year. On June 19, 1933, she married Leonard Leroy White at her home in Berryville.
Following their marriage, she taught for a year in a rural school near Perry, Okla., before returning to the home to serve her family as a homemaker. They later moved to Blackwell, Okla., to make their home.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed flower gardening and her family.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard White, of Blackwell; a daughter, Julia Ream and her husband, Dan, of Ponca City, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen Maud and Vinnie Ream; and three brothers, Digby Clarke, Herbert Brooke and Rollo Granger.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2006, at Roberts and Son Funeral Home in Blackwell, Okla. Rev. Jeff Koch of First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Blackwell Cemetery.
