Eureka downs Bulldogs for first win of season
EUREKA SPRINGS -- The Highlanders hosted the Decatur Bulldogs for their final game of the season at the Lake Leatherwood ball fields on Thursday, April 20, and earned their first varsity victory of the season.
"It was nice to have more runs than errors," Coach Thomas Achord said. "We stole seven bases as a team, got extra bases, and played like we wanted to win."
The Highlanders ended their season in a tie for fourth with Decatur and did not get the nod to play in the 1AA West District tournament on Monday.
Josh Guindon went the full seven innings on the mound and threw 105 pitches to 35 batters, had six strikeouts, three walks, gave up six hits, two runs, 2 earned runs, and hit four batters.
"Josh had a fabulous game," Coach Achord said. "He did great on the mound. Paul Sebby does what needs doing, and Kenny Collins played smart behind the plate."
