Marvin graduated from Alpena High School and later married Dessie Keys in May of 1968. He served in the National Guard for six years and was employed at Tanner hardware in Green Forest for 23 years before moving to Meek's Lumber in Berryville. He remained at Meeks for nine years until he was unable to work due to his illness in November of last year.
Marvin enjoyed the hardware business and always went out of his way to please the customers. He was very devoted to his wife, Dessie, and liked spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting guns, various antiques and working with his metal detector.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Dessie, of the home; his son, Barry Connell of Green Forest; his son, Rick Jones of Berryville; his daughter, Kathy White and husband Ron of Oak Grove; his daughter Deanna Snyder and husband Bruce of Green Forest; one brother, Roy Connell and wife Trena of Alpena; three sisters, Linda Holley and husband Doug of Livingston, Texas, Charlene Lippe and husband Kevin of Blue Eye, Mo., Donna Russell of Green Forest; and five grandchildren.
Celebration of life was held on Monday, April 24, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest. Brother Rodney Stromlund officiated, followed with burial in Auman Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Hospice in Berryville.
