IRENE O. McCOLLOUGH, 80, of Green Forest, died Wednesday, March 29, at Carroll County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berryville. She was born on Sept. 1, 1925, in Coffeyville, Kan., to the late Glen Colton and Minnie (Lear) Colton.

She married Kenneth McCollough on Dec. 12, 1942. In her younger years she helped work their farm in the Rudd community and was employed at Ocama Foods, which is now Tyson Foods. She devoted herself to her family and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and caregiving.

Mrs. McCollough is survived by her daughter, Madlyn McAlister, and her husband, Bob, of Alpena; grandchildren Scott McAlister, and his wife, Brenda, of Omaha, Brad McAlister and wife Mandy, of Alpena, Nancy Collins and her husband, Vernon, of Berryville, Sandy Conner and husband Gene, of Green Forest, and Tracy Miles and husband Jake, of Denver; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1985; a son, Butch McCollough, in 2005; a grandson, Billy McAlister, in 2004; and four brothers, James Colton, John Colton, Charles Colton, and her twin, Glen Colton.

A celebration of her life was scheduled for Saturday, April 1, at 10 a.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest, with Dean Smith and Gerald Miller officiating,. Burial was in Gobbler Cemetery.
