DORIS CHRISTIAN, 64, of Alpena, died at Washington Regional Medical Center on Saturday, March 4, 2006.
She was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Golden, Mo., the daughter of Orval Hawkins and Evelyn Denio Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and step-mother Ida Mae Hawkins.
She was a member of the Adaline Quartet in her younger years and enjoyed sewing, traveling, cooking and outdoors activities. She is remembered for her devotion to her family.
Doris is survived by her husband, Ted, of the home; four daughters, Linda Arnold of Trinidad, Calif., Cyndy Mersing of Anchorage, Alaska, Mary Talley of Berryville, Lorraine Meyers of Petaluma, Calif; two sons, Carl Buckner of Alpena and Mark Christian of Memphis; one brother, Kenneth Hawkins of Alpena; two sisters, LeIva Klein of Alpena and Kathryn Craff of Alton, Ill.; two step-sisters, Charlotte Horton of Cabot, Ark., and Margo Wilson of Houston, Texas; and one step-brother, Ricky Thomas of Texas; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Roach Cemetery near Eagle Rock, Mo. with Brother Jerry Scitern officiating. Burial was in Roach Cemetery by Smith Family Funeral Home of Green Forest. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.smithfamilyfuneralhome. net.
