Charline L. Mathews
Charline L. Mathews, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 88.
Charline was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Marion, Ind., to the late DeForest and Lois Sheron Worden. She lived in Eureka Springs for many years and was an active member of First United Methodist Church.
Relocating to Dallas in 2000, Charline became an ambassador of good will and an active resident at Treemont Retirement Community. In addition to serving as secretary on the resident board, she served on the welcome committee, helping new residents adjust to their new home, and assisted in the library. Last year she was elected Valentine's Day "Queen of Hearts."
In addition to her parents, Charline was preceded in death by her husband, J. Clifford Mathews; and by a son, G. Frederick Mathews.
She is survived by sons, John Clifford Mathews, Jr. and wife, Nancy of Dallas, Philip D. Mathews and partner, Ed Graziani of San Francisco, and Richard A. Mathews and wife, Robyn of Dallas; daughter-in-law, Doris Smith; son-in-law, Orland Smith; grandchildren, Sheryl, John, Jennifer, Taylor, Stephen, Ryan, Jeff, Andrew, Michael, Kim, Creighton, Bradley, Courtney, Jennifer and My Lanh; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were to be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road; and 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at Treemont Retirement Community, 5550 Harvest Hill Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Samaritan Hospice, 9535 Forest Lane, Dallas, TX 75243.
Arrangements were handled by Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Dallas.
