LINCOLN -- It was the best kind of road trip last Friday for the Green Forest Tigers senior boys who took a 1AAA Conference win over the Lincoln Wolves.

Coach Bill Niven's senior boys took their first conference win, 50-42, with 14 points from Zac Sutton and Justin Reece. It was their second victory of the season, the other a 70-66 win over Southside Bee Branch. They are now 2-10, 1-6 league.

Coach Jim Goins' senior girls (9-6, 4-2) had to welcome back Lincoln's Lauren Abshier, who missed the last month with a broken nose, and she scored 19 points to help the Lady Wolves (9-4, 6-1) to a 55-48 win over the visitors.

SENIOR HIGH BOYS

8-9, 21-21, 32-28, 50-42

"We've won two out of the last five," Coach Niven noted after the game. It was close all the way. We would pull away, then they'd hit a couple of threes.

"We had good balanced scoring. Reece can score, and Zac is playing well. Adam Plagge did a good job inside. The kids are getting stronger and starting to see and understand what to do."

Scoring- GF- 14's- Reece, Sutton, 4/6 Fts; Cody Demeyer- 10, 4R, 6/11 Fts; Plagge- 6, 12R, 4 blk; Josh Dudley- 4, 4S; Guy Joubert- 2. LN- Ty Horton- 12; Donny Jones 9; Erhardt- 8; Frye- 5.

SENIOR HIGH GIRLS

6-13, 23-26, 35-40, 48-55

"We were down 17-6, then came back in the second quarter, made a little run, got some rebounds on the defensive end," Coach Goins said. "Kimberlee Watson hit a 35-footer for three at the halftime buzzer to keep us close.

"Early in the fourth quarter we got within one, then we missed a shot on the baseline and Lincoln was up four or five the rest of the way.

"It was Abshier's first game back from a broken nose and she played like a senior All-State guard, made plays on offense and defense. We battled pretty hard, but they killed us on the boards. Still, there's a lot of progress from a year ago," Goins said.
