JAMES CRISS VAUGHN, a resident of Milton, Fla., was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Hardy, Miss., a son of Joseph Price and Lillian Mae (Davis) Vaughn. He died Saturday, July 23, 2005, in Pensacola, Fla., at the age of 83.

Mr. Vaughn grew up in Grenada, Miss. He worked at the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp until he joined the Marines. He was discharged with 50-percent disability in 1945. Until his retirement in 1980, he drove a truck for Graves Truck Lines.

He is survived by one son, James Arlin Vaughn of Girard, Kan.; a half-sister, Ruby Wilson, of Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Vaughn, his parents, two brothers, an infant brother Howard Vaughn; and a half-sister, Chrystal Rucker.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Nelson's Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs. Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, in Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
