Hacking for Health golf results

HOLIDAY ISLAND -- On Friday, June 3, Carroll Health Foundation hosted its 10th annual "Hacking for Health" Benefit Golf Tournament.

Held at Holiday Island Country Club, the tournament was very successful, raising approximately $5,500 for the Foundation, which supports technology, scholarships, and capital projects for St. John's Hospital -- Berryville.

Thirty-seven teams came out for the two-person scramble that kicked off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Plaques and trophies by Triple S Trophies, as well as pro shop gift certificates and assorted prizes were given to first, second, and third place in each of three flights.

In addition to the flight awards, prizes were given by AHA Services and Southern Service Systems. Prizes for men's and women's Longest Drive and for Closest to the Pin were presented by the offices of Steve Rose, MD and William K. Flake, MD.

As an added bonus, the annual Hacker's Award was presented to the team with the highest score.

Hole-in-one sponsors for the event were BEST Motor Company, which provided a 2005 Buick LaCrosse, and www.softub.com from Eagle Rock, Mo.

Corporate sponsorships were provided by McBride Distributing Co, Inc., Carroll County News, KTHS and St. John's Hospital -- Berryville. In addition, there were 24 other sponsors who contributed awards, door prizes, food, and giveaways.

First Flight: 1st Place -- Bob & Brent Moore, Carroll County News (72); 2nd Place -- Jack Morton & Calvin Fish (72); 3rd Place -- Dr. Larry George & Fred Pierson (74).

Second Flight: 1st Place -- Danny Perry & Wayne White, AFLAC (81); 2nd Place -- Jean & Jerry Horning, St. John's Clinic-Holiday Island (83); 3rd Place -- Donn Sorensen & Ted Fronczak, St. John's Clinics (85).

Closest to the Pin: Bob Miller

Men's Longest Drive: Dustin Walker

Women's Longest Drive: Susan Coenen

Hacker's Award: Carol Wingate & Roberta Kirby.
