HOLIDAY ISLAND -- Holiday Island Community Church members and guests enjoyed an extraordinary musical experience at an Organ Dedication Service Sunday afternoon, May 15.

From the grandeur of the classics, through familiar hymns, to the simplicity of Shaker music, the congregation experienced a strong statement of the importance of music in worship.

Guest organ artist Stephen Wittman demonstrated not only the range and variety of sound from the new Rodgers organ, but his talent and love of music, as well. Wittman was joined in the concert by the Community Church choir under the direction of Ed Simpson and Jim Swiggart, and clarinet soloist Marquis Jones.

Pastor Allen Thrasher opened the dedication service with praise and prayer. The congregation participated in singing various favorite hymns and Rev. (ret.) Francis Dale lead the Litany of Dedication.

Administrative Council Chairman Nick Roster recognized Ellen Cook for her 12 years of service as director of the Holiday Island Community Church choir. Roster then read the organ dedication plaque in honor of Mrs. Cook. That plaque reads, "This organ is dedicated in honor of Ellen Cook, a servant of our Lord in the music ministry of the Holiday Island Community Church. May 15, 2005."
