FAY CARPENTER, a resident of Green Forest, was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Enon, Ark., a son of Claude and Luria (Jones) Carpenter. He died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in Berryville, at the age of 86.

Mr. Carpenter was a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Blue Eye United Pentecostal Church. Fay was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during World War II.

On Sept. 6, 1939, he was united in marriage with Minnie Mae (Simkins) Carpenter who survives him of the home. He is also survived by four sons, Bobby Fay Carpenter of Green Forest, Dwanye Carpenter of Siloam Springs, Gary Carpenter of Oak Grove, and Joe Carpenter of Nashville, Ark.; two daughters, Norma Jean Brinkley of Evans, La., and Janice Head of Green Forest, and his grandson, Ronnie Carpenter of Huntsville; two sisters, Wilma Mae Simkins of Arvada, Colo., and Ruby Cowan of Green Forest; also 15 other grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Luria Carpenter; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 21, 2005, at the Christ Tabernacle Church in Blue Eye, Mo., with Bro. Josh Shields and Bro. Dwayne Carpenter officiating.
