Tuesday, December 14, 2004

Authorities arrested five individuals on felony drug charges in four separate incidents the first two days of December.

"In a 48-hour time span, Carroll County patrol deputies made five felony drug arrests from traffic-related incidents," said a Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

The first two occurred on Dec. 2 with a traffic stop near the Kings River Bridge.

According to authorities, Sgt. John Rains and his K-9 partner, Kilo, located approximately one ounce of suspected marijuana inside a vehicle and another half-ounce discarded by the suspects near the vehicle.

Arrested were Jay Curtis Cheely, 19, and Harlan Kenneth aka Paul Martin, 22, both of Eureka Springs. Cheely was charged with alleged possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and Martin was charged with alleged possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, probation violation, speeding, no driver's license second offense, no seat belt and no liability insurance/proof of insurance.

That same day, Deputy J.C. Nelson responded to a call south of Berryville to investigate a complaint of a nude man in a truck.

Upon arrival, authorities say they located Tracy Armer, 44, of Berryville, naked in his truck.

After arresting Armer, Nelson allegedly located approximately three grams of marijuana and several syringes.

Armer was arrested and charged with alleged indecent exposure, possession of a controlled substance and possessing instruments of crime.

The following day, Dec. 3, Nelson responded to a vehicle accident on Holiday Island and arrested Vicki Wadel, 44, of Eureka Springs on a felony forgery warrant.

Authorities say after taking Wadel to jail, suspected marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located in Wadel's purse.

Later in the evening, Deputy Jeff Webb arrested George Barta, 31, of Green Forest for suspected DWI.

During this arrest, authorities say, Webb located nearly two ounces of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Barta was charged with alleged delivery of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, driving left of center and no seat belt.
