Jerry Lee James
JERRY LEE JAMES, 61, of Green Forest, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at his home. He was born July 28, 1943, at Flippin, Ark., the second son of Manuel and the late Vera (Parnell) James.
Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church in Green Forest. He received his BSE degree from UCA in Conway and extended hours from the University of Arkansas. He was retired from public school teaching after 37 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, a sportsman, a retired basketball official, and a cattle and turkey farmer. He had a deep love for his God, his family, his country and his friends.
On Aug. 13, 1967, he was united in marriage with Peggy Ann (Martin) James, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Lise Renee Liles and husband, Brian Liles of Texarkana; a son Robert Lynn James and wife Tiffany of Springdale; his father and stepmother, Manuel and Bunice James of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Don James of Pangburn, Ark.; a brother-in-law, Buddy Martin of Vilonia; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Jones of Springdale, Ark. and Betty Campbell of Conway, Ark.; seven nieces and five nephews; 11 great-nieces and three great-nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Green Forest with Pastor Marvin Emmons and Jerry's nephew, Bro. Blake Martin, officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Yellville, Ark., under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
