Delbert Howard

Delbert Howard, 88, of Rudd, died Friday Oct.15, 2004. Mr. Howard was born on March 12, 1916, in Carroll County to the late Fred Howard and Missie Miller Howard.

Mr. Howard was a retired truck driver with Eldridge Feed Mill of Green Forest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all hunting ginseng. Delbert lived in Carroll County most of his life where he graduated from the Gobbler School. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church.

On Nov.16, 1939, he married Doris Usrey, who preceded him in death in 1977. He is survived by three daughters, Romona Armer and her husband Bob of Metalton, Roberta Ellis of Berryville, and Patsy Logue of Rudd; one son, Gary and his wife Loretta of Rudd; 10 grandchildren, Robin Davis, Rhonda Koch, Kathy Fritz, Sammy Ellis, Billy Ellis, Rodney Ellis, Bobby Arnier, Lori Holland, Deanna Grassman and Rebel Howard; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Usrey Howard, in 1977, his mother, Missie Miller Howard, father Fred Howard, one son, Jeffrey Howard, granddaughter Doris Marie Baugh, great-granddaughter Santana Howard an infant granddaughter, four brothers, Olney, Steve, Milford and Nathan Howard, three sisters, Edith Presley, Myrtle Howard, Elsa Garrison, two infant sisters, and two sons-in-law, Sammy J. Ellis and Dave Logue.

Services were held Tuesday Oct. 19, 2004, at Gobbler Church with Brother Glenn Faulkner officiating. Burial was in Gobbler Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home of Green Forest.
