CAPC hears agency presentations

Three Little Rock advertising agencies put their best feet forward Thursday afternoon to convince the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission (CAPC) they would make the best marketing partners.

Heathcott Associates Advertising Agency, Combs & Company and Stone Ward brought their teams to meet the commissioner during individual presentations at the Eureka Inn, Inn of the Ozarks and Basin Park Hotel.

The commission is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday at the CAPC office to make a decision on which group to hire.

Gary Heathcott startled his audience by announcing his agency would only need $50,000 of the $100,000 budgeted for agency fees and he would add the remaining $50,000 to the $400,000 for advertising in the 2005 budget.

He presented two "commercials" for Eureka showing off the city and area features.

Debra Reed of Stone Ward made a similar discount offer, saying her agency would put $25,000 into the $400,000 budget.

She believes her group can get $65,000 in "added value" publicity and purchasing deals to provide "almost $600,000 worth of marketing for Eureka Springs."

Ben Combs said his group would concentrate on two major advertising campaign a year, spring/summer and fall/holiday, using advertising markets across the country.

He also wants to develop a "first class rack brochure" in addition to the annual Visitor's Guide.
