The Green Forest Lady Tiger volleyball team hosted Cotter for two matches on Tuesday and won both to keep their unbeaten records perfect at 3-0 in league play.

The varsity Lady Tigers took four games to win their match, 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, but pulled out the win over a defensive-minded Lady Warrior team.

The JV won their match in two games, 25-21, 25-12.

Vs. Cotter

Tuesday, Sept. 7

Cotter, intent on defense, often bumped the ball back to the Lady Tigers on the first or second hit, not giving Green Forest much time to set up for spikes.

"We had an off game last night," Coach Jennifer Bassett said. "It was not our kind of game. We had a lot of personal errors. Cotter would hit the ball back quickly, didn't use all their hits, and it was hard for us to set up. Cotter covered well."

Coach said Nicki Kilbourn served well in the first game, and that Ashley Hutchins and Bethani Shields stepped up from the JV team and "played for us."

25-21, 25-12

Coach Bassett has been looking for a winning combination with this group and may have found it Tuesday night.

"We tried a 5-1 setup, with Bethany Shields as our setter, and that worked well," Bassett said. "We will continue with that."

The coaches have scheduled a number of intrasquad volleyball matches for this group, which will be played as round robin-type tournaments in Tiger gym. Dates are:

Tuesday, Sept. 14- 5:30 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 20- 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 28- 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 7- 5:30 p.m.
