MARGARET (PEGGY) SWINDELLS, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Umatilla, Fla., a daughter of John Howard Dutill, Sr. and Ethel Mae (Kennedy) Dutill. She died Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Springdale at the age of 85.

Peggy was a homemaker. She was a veteran, having served with the United States Navy during World War II. She attended St. Gabriel's Church in Springdale. She was a member of the Abendschone Chapter of NSDAR.

On Aug.17, 1941, she was united in marriage with Walter R. Swindells who survives her of the home. She is also survived by two sons, Mark Beaumont Swindells of Anaheim, Calif., and Scott Kennedy Swindells of Grants Pass, Ore.; two daughters, Lesley Townsend and Holly Simpson both of Fresno, Calif. ; brother, John Howard Dutill, Jr. of Florence, Ken.; three sisters, Dorothy Merrill of Umatilla, Fla., Janet Fitzgerald of Montgomery, Ala., and Jean Delp of Pinellas Park, Fla.; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Dutill.

Interment was Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at St. Mark's Cemetery at Hillspeak, south of Eureka Springs, with Father Leo Michael officiating. Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at
