Marvin C. Russell
MARVIN C. RUSSELL, a resident of Green Forest, was born July 22, 1919, in Grand Quivira, N.M., a son of Claud and Annie Ruth (Jones) Russell. He died Monday, June 28, 2004, in Green Forest at the age of 84.
Marvin was a farmer and he also worked in oil fields in Texas and New Mexico. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during World War II, where he was taken as a P.O.W. Marvin was a member of the VFW.
On Nov. 3, 1950, he was united in marriage with Laverne (Palmer) Russell, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his son, Gerald Russell of Springfield, Mo.; his daughter, Sharon Manan Green of Roby, Texas; two brothers, Ferrell Russell of San Antonio, Texas, and Tommy D. Russell of Green Forest; one sister, Sylva Palmer of Green Forest; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Annie Russell; two brothers; and one grandson.
Graveside memorial funeral services were to be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Zion Hill Cemetery in Green Forest. Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Service.
