Juanita Dee Buell
Juanita Dee Buell a resident of Lakewood, Calif., for 54 years, died on Feb. 22, 2004, in La Mirada, Calif. after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of John Henry and Mary Catherine (Killough) Jackson, born in the Farewell Community of Carroll County on July 5, 1923.
She was united in marriage with Auburn E. Buell on Oct. 13, 1938, in Carroll County by Rev. Jesse Powell. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in October 2003.
Juanita attended Farewell grammar school and Green Forest High School, before quitting to be married. She later returned to school and graduated from high school in Bellflower, Calif. and subsequently received an Associate of Arts Degree in Business from Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif. She was a dedicated homemaker and an avid volunteer at the V.A. Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif., serving thousands of hours before her health prevented her continuing. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary where she served many offices including local Post President, District President and California State Veterans Affairs Volunteer Services Chairman.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; by brothers, Troy, Roy, Sterman, Clarence and Thomas; by sisters, Hazel Miller, Effie Tipton, and Braddie Satterfield; and by nephew, Coy E. Jackson. She is survived by her husband of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Ron Eveland of Cerritos, and Jeanne and Dick Bell of Lakewood, Calif.; six grandsons and granddaughters-in-law; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nephews, including Cleo Jackson and Wendell Satterfield, of Green Forest, Joy Miller of Blue Eye, Mo.; and niece Lois Weisler of Blue Eye.
Funeral services were Friday Feb. 27, 2004, at Forest Lawn Cypress in the Church of Our Fathers with Rev. George B. Vogel, Chaplain V.A. Medical Center Long Beach, presiding. Internment immediately followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, Calif.
