J.S. MORRIS, a resident of Green Forest, was born March 10, 1927, in the Yocum community of Carroll County, a son of Seab and Mattie (Roberts) Morris. He died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in his home at the age of 76.
Mr. Morris was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a plumber for Sawyer and McCarty in California for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam and her husband Dennis Hill of Salinas, Calif.; son Mike and his wife Marylin Morris of Salinas, Calif., son Johnny Morris of Salinas; daughter, Linda and her husband, Bill Autry of Buffalo, Mo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Willie Youngblood of Green Forest; a brother, Buster Morris of Green Forest; many other relatives and a host of friends.
On October 14, 1950, he was united in marriage with Peggy Dee (Davis) Morris, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Frazier, and four brothers, Earl Morris, Gene Morris, Charlie Morris and Paul Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Green Forest. Interment will follow in the Yocum Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to the Yocum Cemetery Fund.
