ARVILLA JOHNSON, a resident of Springfield, Mo., was born Jan. 8, 1912, in Carroll County, Ark., a daughter of Ed and Ellen (Gross) Cary. She died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in her home at the age of 92.
Mrs. Johnson was a candy maker for the Wing Candy Company in Branson.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ebb and Betty Johnson of Hollister, Mo., Dallas and Gwyneth Johnson of Ontario, Canada, and Willard and Loretta Johnson of Blue Eye, Mo.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jo and Louis Ward of Owasso, Okla., Shirley and Richard Wilkie of Tulsa, and Janet and LeRoy McCreary of Aurora, Mo.; three sisters, Arena Creekmore of Hollister, Mo., and Ardena Hudson and Jeneva Hammond both of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; several step- grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great- grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
On June 7, 1930, she was united in marriage with Rex Johnson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ellen Cary; and three brothers, Hubert Cary, Willis Cary, and George Cary.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at the Mt. Olivet Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor J.C. Johnson and Pastor Billy Rogers officiating.
