Bobcats top Tigers in shootout
Any time any Berryville and Green Forest athletic teams tangle, you can expect hot, intense action from both squads.
That's the way it was last Friday night when the senior high boys and girls shot it out in Tiger gym, although both Berryville squads came away with a win.
The Lady Bobcats used their bench and pressure man defense to pull away for a 60-30 win in the first game, with the Bobcat boys raining threes on the Tigers in the nightcap for a 75-48 win.
The Berryville girls moved to 6-9 overall, 2-3 in 1AAA play, while Green Forest fell to 3-10, 1-3. The Berryville boys improved to 10-6, 4-1, while Green Forest remained winless at 0-11, 0-4.

The Bobcats started by throwing the ball inside to Cory Smith, who netted 10 points the first quarter, 15 by halftime, then they unleashed a barrage of threes.
Drew Ray was on fire, hitting five threes the first half, six for the game. He finished with 24 points, with Smith netting 17. Green Forest's C.J. Matthews came off the bench and used his speed and quickness to score 17 points, including two threes, and teammate Jordan Dudley hit two threes of his own the first quarter.
For the game, Berryville made 14 of 23 threes, with Ray getting 6 Josh Kriesel 4, Heath Neal 3, and Jon Marley 1. That accounted for 42 of Berryville's points.
Berryville's 3-point shooting, combined with 13 turnovers by Green Forest, allowed the clock to run the fourth quarter.

It was tight for a quarter, but the Lady Tigers couldn't stop Berryville's Emily Bell, even when they triple teamed her. Bell scored 15 points, and three teammates netted nine each.
Berryville wore Green Forest down with pressure defense and a strong showing from the bench, and was up 35-15 with 3:08 to go in the third quarter.
