LILLIAN NIGHTINGALE, 81, of Elgin, Ill., formerly of Aurora, Ill., died Dec. 14, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Elgin. Lillian was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Aurora, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Adam. She was united in marriage to Ralph F. Nighingale on April 24, 1948, in Aurora.
Lillian lived most of her life in Aurora. She worked for the Campana in Batavia for 15 years. In 1977, Lillian and her husband retired and moved to Arkansas. While in Arkansas, Mrs. Nightingale was active with her community and church. She was past president of the Garden Club, a member of Ladies Aid, and also a member of First Lutheran Church of Harrison.
She is survived by her two sons, Ron and his wife, Carol Nightingale of Elgin and Larry and his wife Barbara Nightingale of Torrington, Conn.; four grandchildren, Brianna and Ryan Nightingale of Elgin, Diana and her husband, Eric Satula of Bethlehem, Conn., Mark Nightingale of Torrington, Conn., and Denise Deter of England; her sister, Marion and her husband, Robert Stokes of Batavia, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Gladys Adam of Aurora; a brother-in-law, Wilson Barnett of Aurora; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five brothers and sisters; Frieda Barnett, Fred Adam, Ruth Bloom, Walter Adam, and Vera Blair.
Graveside funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the Norris Cemetery with Pastor Eric Stephanski officiating. Interment followed the service under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Out of town arrangements were by Moss Family Funeral Home, Batavia, Ill.. Memorial donations may be made to First Lutheran Church Building Fund, Harrison, Ark.
